Neuromodulator Injections

As age increases, skin elasticity decreases due to collagen loss and reduced tissue vascularization. Wrinkles (rhytids) occur when certain muscles become dominant and the skin loses the ability to be as elastic in response to their contractions.  In addition, muscles become constrictive and naturally form creases. Dynamic rhytids can be reduced or eliminated by relaxing the dominant muscle as it either competes against an inferior muscle or constricts skin elasticity.

Neuromodulator injections such as Botox® and Xeomin® are the most common cosmetic enhancements used today for anti-aging and wrinkles. They are safe drugs with a long history of use. These treatments relax muscles by inhibiting the release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, which is necessary for muscle contraction. They have also been used for decades to treat such medical conditions as cervical dystonia, TMJ dysfunction, and other neuromuscular disorders. Depending on the patient’s metabolism and the frequency of treatments, results may last for three months or longer.

Before focusing on her practice full-time, Dr. Roberts traveled the country training thousands of other physicians to administer neuromodulator injections; she now brings that expertise to each treatment in her clinic. Harnessing her knowledge and meticulousness, she is particularly careful to avoid causing pain and bruising. She provides these injections for individuals seeking natural-looking, rejuvenating aesthetic results, as well as those seeking relief from such medical conditions as migraines and hyperhidrosis.
